Cavendish Morton was born in Edinburgh in 1911 with a twin brother Concord. He was an accomplished artist in oils and watercolour and had paintings selected on 19 occasions for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. He married the musician Rosemary Britten in 1946 and moved to Suffolk in 1947 and stayed until 1977 when he moved to the harbour town of Bembridge on the Isle of Wight. His paintings of Brading Marshes and the surrounding area were one of his favourite Island subjects but his body of work was far more diverse when you include his output whilst in Suffolk.
